Casa Adelaida is a distinctive country house with character, carefully restored, set halfway between the beaches of Comillas and the Saja-Besaya Natural Park.
Our house is rented as a whole and sleeps a maximum of 8 to 14 guests (including two extra beds available on request), across more than 300 m² of floor area, arranged into 4 double bedrooms — all with full private en-suite bathrooms, one of them adapted for older guests or guests with reduced mobility — plus an additional guest toilet. There are two living rooms (one with a fireplace), a full kitchen, a dining room, a covered terrace with outdoor dining lounge, a garden, a barbecue and a pool.
The house sits in the heart of Cabuérniga Valley, a charming village of traditional Cantabrian mountain houses and rural stone architecture. Within the village you'll find a pharmacy, a supermarket, three bar-restaurants, an ATM, a primary healthcare centre and an EV charging station.

Heating and firewood for the fireplace (November–April): €10/night, depending on length of stay.
Along with the stay payment, a €1,000 security deposit, refunded within 48 h once we confirm there's no damage.
Change of bed linen and towels on the fifth day (or every five days for stays over 10 days).
We can do the grocery shopping before your arrival. The cost of the groceries is not included.
Booking: 30 % deposit by bank transfer (account details sent when we confirm availability). The rest, two days before key handover.
Up to 30 days before arrival: 100 % refund. Between 30 and 15 days: 50 %. Under 15 days: non-refundable.
No fixed times. If another group arrives on your departure day, you must vacate before 12:00. Flexible whenever the booking calendar allows.
On request and with separate pricing: breakfasts and housekeeping during your stay. Also private cookery classes taught by a chef trained at the Basque Culinary Center in San Sebastián. And of course, information on activities in the area.
We hope you'll treat the house with care. Casa Adelaida is not intended for loud parties (such as stag or hen parties): they break the rural calm and disturb the villagers, so they are strictly not allowed. Smoking inside is also not permitted.
Casa Adelaida's privileged setting — surrounded by peace and immersed in nature, in the Cabuérniga Valley — lets you enjoy an idyllic environment.
Santander is just 50 km away (40 minutes by car): museums, bay boat tours, historic beaches and palaces like La Magdalena. Plus shopping and tapas in its most chic streets.
Comillas, once a royal retreat, offers palaces, mansions and the world-famous Capricho de Gaudí, along with its beach and restaurants.
Within 30 km, charming towns: San Vicente de la Barquera, Carmona and Bárcena Mayor — the latter two among Spain's most beautiful villages — Cabezón de la Sal, Santillana del Mar, Suances and Tudanca.
For day trips: Potes, Mogrovejo, Liérganes, Castro Urdiales, Noja and Laredo — all within ninety minutes by car, with stunning corners and excellent gastronomy.
In the Pasiegos Valleys and Liébana Valley, centuries of architecture: Pasiega cabins, noble mansions, convents, collegiate churches, monasteries and medieval towers.
Dreamlike landscapes to enjoy in calm. Visit Fuente Dé, the gateway to Picos de Europa, the Saja-Besaya Natural Park 15 km away, or Santo Toribio Monastery in the Liébana Valley. Trekking, hiking, cycling or simply nature.
For younger guests or a family day out, Cabárceno Wildlife Park, 50 km away.
And the Pas Greenway: walking or cycling along the old Astillero-Ontaneda railway line, starting from Puente Viesgo.
30 km away, Oyambre, Merón, Del Rosal and Gerra beaches. Within 25 km, a coastline dotted with fine sand beaches and hidden coves between cliffs.
The Altamira caves, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Also the Soplao, Chufín, El Pendo, Las Covalanas and Coventosa caves, and the Udías and Soplao mines.
You can also try 4x4 routes, go river-tracing or practise surfing, bodyboarding or paddleboarding.
